Kickstarter Helps Wasteland 2 Become Reality
Brian Fargo was the Executive Producer for the original Wasteland, a post-apocalyptic RPG created in 1988, which was the spiritual prequel to the original Fallout. It was a trendsetter in how RPGs were played. It was also the first post-apocalyptic RPG of its kind, as well as the first RPG to give the player true consequences within the storyline for their decisions. So it should probably come as no surprise that Brian Fargo and his team have already surpassed their goal in only 2 days after their kickstarter went live.Brian Fargo insists Wasteland 2 will not fall into any of the remake traps that have been seen by the Likes of Fallout, X-com, or Syndicate. Brian wants this to be a proper sequel;

We’re going back to the original and building from there. No first person shooter, we’re going top down so you get a tactical feel for the situation. And we’re not ditching the party play to turn it into some hack-and-slash bloodfest. It’s turn based, tactical, with a storyline that will be deeper and broader.

This is something some publishers just couldn’t grasp (watch the hilarious video on kickstarter) but that fans very dearly wanted, and when the fans spoke, they did so with their wallets.
